Director of Facilities - Affordable & Supported Housing

Bronx

Resourcing Group is working with a leading Affordable and Supported Housing provider, looking to recruit a Facilities Director in the Bronx.

This key leadership position is responsible for managing, directing and assisting in the overall planning, direction, and coordination of facilities maintenance and operations, as well as maintaining equipment, vehicle fleet, inventory, and grounds of all facilities. The Director will oversee a team of maintenance supervisors and their teams.

Duties will include;

  • Supervise and control activities involving facility inspections and audits by funding sources, and ensures observance of applicable laws, codes, and ordinances including housing codes and Fire Safety regulations.
  • Handle violations that occur by representing the business and affiliates at Hearings (ECB/DOB).
  • Oversight of repairs in the residential programs and scatter site apartments.
  • Maintain vehicle fleet by ensuring schedule of maintenance and repair, current registrations, authorized driver's list etc.
  • Plan, schedule and inspect facilities maintenance management initiatives, including preventive maintenance, repair/installation projects and supervises outside contractors.
  • Interview, supervise, evaluate, discipline and set work schedules of staff.
  • Solicit and manage vendors and resources, including writing Requests for Proposals, estimates on equipment, labor and other related costs. Oversee Fire Prevention Systems.
  • Maintain compliance with all OSHA and Agency regulations and safety Initiatives, including annual inspections of the elevators, boilers etc.
  • Responsible for managing work orders. Must be able and willing to respond 24/7 to emergencies.

Qualifications Needed;

  • 7 years of progressive experience and responsibility in a facility maintenance field, 5 of which were in a supervisory position directing a multi-functional maintenance staff at multiple sites.
  • Degree with technical training in Plant Maintenance, Facility Management or equivalent is desired.
  • Driver's License from the state in which the bearer resides.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required;

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and lead in a complex, geographically dispersed social service organization serving populations in need, especially persons with mental illness, substance abuse disorders and the chronically homeless.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of general carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, landscaping, general custodial practices and mechanical systems with excellent trouble shooting skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and business mathematical skills.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) beneficial.
  • Ability to handle complex challenges and balance multiple demands on time and attention.
